DELIGHTED St Albans artist Wendy Hyams has had five miniature watercolours accepted into a London exhibition at the first time of trying.

Wendy, of Sandfield Road, has her work on display at the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers at the Mall Galleries in London until next Sunday, October 23.

Wendy started out as a freelance illustrator specialising in detailed watercolour still-life projects but took a long break from her artistic career after second son Dominic was born with brittle bones.

She has now been painting miniatures for several years but it was the first time she had applied for the exhibition and she was thrilled that all five works were accepted.

She added: “The paintings, which include a painting of our daughter Holly (above) have been very well received and it’s hoped that I’ll be a regular exhibitor at the society’s exhibition in years to come.
