Marking the half century of what is probably St Albans’ most famous song were the Ver Players who performed it outside a St Albans cafe.
She’s Not There by local band The Zombies was written in 1964 and the Ver Players, a ukulele group, chose to play their version of it outside the Courtyard Café in Hatfield Road, just a stone’s throw from The Blacksmiths Arms where The Zombies first met.
Ver Players currently has 70 ukulele playing members and meets regularly for sing-alongs. Further information at www.verplayers.org.uk
