Saxophonist Grant Stewart and the Dave O’Higgins Quartet play Herts Jazz Club this Sunday, March 13.

One of the most influential tenor sax players of the contemporary jazz scene. Grant was tutored by musicians such as trumpeter Donald Byrd, pianist Barry Harris and saxophonist Joe Lovano but never attended a formal college.

Instead, he devoted his time to transcribing and to studying alone, going on to record 12 records as a leader and performing with many prominent jazz artists, among them singers Jon Hendricks and Etta Jones and pianist Brad Mehldau.

He is joined at the club at the Hawthorne Theatre in Welwyn Garden City by the Dave O’Higgins Quartet.
