Herts Jazz favourite Leon Greening is back for a pre-Christmas gig with sax colossus Alex Garnett this Sunday, (14)
Regarded as one of the finest pianists this country has ever produced, listening to Leon’s playing has been likened to hearing a history of post-bop piano with echoes of everyone from Bud Powell to Wynton Kelly and Barry Harris to Horace Silver.
The Leon Greening Quartet, featuring Alex Garnett, saxes, Adam King, bass, and Steve Brown, drums, is appearing at the Hawthorne Theatre in Welwyn Garden City from 7.30pm.
