A subtitled film which follows 10-year-old Wadjda who enters a religious competition to raise money for a bicycle is being shown by Harpenden Film Society next Wednesday, Apri 2.
Wadjda lives in Saudia Arabia where girls are not meant to laugh out loud, let alone ride a bicycle.
The film is the first ever made in Saudi Arabia directed by a woman. In Arabic with English subtitles, the comedy can be seen at 8pm in Harpenden Public Halls.
Tickets are £5 for non members and £3.50 for members, available from www.harpendenfilmsociety.co.uk, WHSmith in Harpenden, the Public Halls or on the door.
