A FUSION of music with its roots based in the blues comes to St Albans next Saturday night, June 15, when Sam Kelly’s Station House play at the Maltings Arts Theatre.
The band, supported by Dr Shades, has a unique sound influenced by New Orleans second line soul, jazz, calypso, reggae and British funk.
With dancing very much in mind the band features Sam Kelly, five times winner of Best UK Blues drummer, and a roster of top session musicians, They are playing for Shades of Blue, the monthly club held at the arts theatre.

In addition, Sam will be holding a musicians’ workshop ahead of the gig from from 7.30pm to 8.30pm for a charge of £5 on the door. It is a chance to gain an insight into how to play with a drummer as part of a band and there will be a Q&A session on Sam’s 30 years experience as a professional musician with artists from Ben E King to Robert Plant, Gary Moore and Desmond Dekker.
