Band leader Ray McVay won’t have too far to travel when the Glenn Miller Orchestra appears at the Radlett Centre on Sunday night.

For although Glenn Miller himself was born in Iowa in the USA and spent most of his career around the dance clubs in the New York State are, Ray and his wife Sue, who is the band manager, lived in nearby Letchmore Heath.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra operates under licence from the musician’s estate in New York but the couple have lived in the hamlet for nearly 15 years.

Originally from Glasgow, Ray has held the licence for the Glenn Miller Orchestra for the last 25 years and in that time, has taken the band half way round the world, including most of Europe, Japan, the Middle East and South America.

Sunday’s concert will be his shortest trip to work in all those 25 years – 1.4 miles from his front door in Letchmore Heath to the stage door of the Radlett Centre.

Twenty of the world’s worst serial killers come under the spotlight at the Radlett Centre next Thursday, March 6.

Retired murder squad detective Trevor Marriott is putting on the two hour audio-visual show which features over 200 photographs of not only the victims and their murderers but also images from the original crime scenes as well as video clips of interviews with some of these killers.

Entitled The World’s Worst Serial Killers, Trevor embarked on an extensive study of the cases of some of the worst serial killers from around the world after concluding a long and protracted cold case investigation into Jack the Ripper,

Not only does he portray the killers as the monsters they are, but shows the errors and bad decisions made by law enforcement officers in allowing some of the killers to roam free to kill again before finally being captured.

Think Floyd will be celebrating one of the world’s greatest musical phenomena when they appear at the Radlett Centre next Saturday, March 8.

Dubbed The Definitive Pink Floyd Experience, the tribute band comprises four musicians backed by a team of sound and lighting engineers with the aim of recreating all the atmosphere and musical excellence of the original.

The brand-new Think Floyd production for 2014 features the whole range of classic Pink Floyd from early Syd Barrett, through Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here to The Division Bell.

The performance begins at 7.30pm and tickets at £20 with concessions £18.
