ARTIST Thomas Plunkett is taking part in a prestigious exhibition to mark A Year in the Life of the Royal Albert Hall.

Thomas, who is based in Radlett and is a member of the Royal Watercolour Society, was artist in residence during last November’s Festival of Remembrance held at the concert hall and has created a large watercolour painting to commemorate the event for the exhibition.

David Paskett, president of the Royal Watercolour Society, explained that members had spent the last 12 months responding to the sounds, drama and visual excitement both inside and outside the Royal Albert Hall.

He went on: “From grand events like the Remembrance Day Service and the Last Night of the Proms to intimate jazz in the caf, brass bands and ballroom competitions, the performers, the audience and staff, even the lights and the boiler room, have come under the brush.”

The exhibition is free and runs until Tuesday, June 7, around the ground floor corridor of the Royal Albert Hall. It can be viewed when attending performances or during two more free open days – from 11am to 3pm next Sunday, May 15, and on Saturday, May 21.
