ONE of the UK’s leading young string quartets are returning to a city centre church for a lunchtime performance next Wednesday (September 28).

The award-winning Piatti Quartet will play Schubert’s Quartet D810, Death and the Maiden, and Bartok’s String Quartet No.3 at St Peter’s Church in St Albans.

The Piatti Quartet won the St Martins/Making Music Chamber Music Competition in 2010 and were finalists in the 2009 and 2010 Royal Overseas League.

Charlotte Scott and Michael Trainor play the violins with David Wigram on the viola and Jessie Ann Richardson on the cello.

The concert starts at 1pm and admission is free with a retiring collection in aid of Grove House.
