MAKING only his second UK performance, pianist Stephen Beus wowed the audience at a recital on Saturday evening.

Stephen, 28, who is American and a multi-award winning pianist, was performing at Beechwood Park School in Markyate.

His programme included performances of Bach/Liszt's Prelude and Fugue in A Minor and Mandelssohn's Sonata in E Major, Op 6.

The second half featured renditions of Griffes' The White Peacock and The Night Winds and Samuel Barber's Sonata in E-flat Minor, Op 26.

Stephen was induced to return to the piano for an encore of Liszt's La Campanella and was also presented with a bespoke cologne created by John Bailey of The Perfumers Guild by the school's head boy Christopher Titcomb.
