FREE sick notes for all are promised when GP, writer and broadcaster Phil Hammond returns to the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans on Saturday evening.

Escaping from the surgery yet again, Dr Phil brings a medicinal dose of hilarity, rudeness and irrelevance to his Rude Health Show which starts at 8pm.

No-one escapes his views - politicians, doctors, death, drugs, sex and even himself - but it is all done in a nice way.

In the Rude Health Show, he focuses on the health cost of pleasure-seeking but points out that no health system in the world can cope with the tsunami of accident-prone, drug-addled, sex-obsessed lard buckets heading our way.

He has all the answers - and what he doesn't know, he does what all doctors do and makes it up.

Described by one national newspaper as, "one of the most entertainingly subversive people on the planet," tickets to see Dr Phil's Rude Health Show are 12 with concessions 10, available from the arts theatre box office on 01727 844222.

Appearing in the lunchtime concert at the arts theatre next Wednesday, April 14, are pianists Isabel Beyer and Harvey Dagul.

The duettists have introduced many pieces from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries to modern audiences and their performances are always critically acclaimed.

The one-hour concert starts at 1pm and tickets are 4.

Songs and dances straight from the West End shows including Chicago, Mamma Mia, Oliver and High School Musical can be seen when Encore! A Musical Spectacular comes to the arts theatre next Thursday, April 15.

Tickets are 12 with concessions 10.
