Herts Jazz favourite Pete Long returns to the club with his Ellingtones this Sunday, April 12.
Renowned for his ebullient personality, complemented by a fierce concern for musical excellence, Pete has long been an admirer of Duke Ellington’s music and arrangements and has led groups for many years in tribute to the jazz master.
The Ellingtones are a small offshoot of the award-winning Echoes of Ellington, featuring reduced versions of Ellington and Strayhorn scores in the context of a jam session.
The jazz club meets at the Hawthorne Theatre, Welwyn Garden City, from 7.30pm and tickets in advance from www.hertsjazz.co.uk/gigs.html are £3 students/£10 members/£13 concessions/£14 full.
On the door they are £5 students/£12 members/£15 concessions/£16 full.
