Pam Ayres and Carpenters tribute at the Alban Arena

Poet Pam Ayres is bringing her latest show to the Alban Arena on Monday, April 14.

The visit coincides with the recent publication of her new book of poetry, You Made Me Late Again! copies of which she will be signing after the show which starts at 7.30pm.

Her poems are known for their hair-trigger timing and eye for the absurd detail of everyday life.

Pam performs in excess of 60 concerts a year and has taken her show to Ireland, the Middle East, Hong Kong, France, Kenya, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as well as making regular TV appearances

A tribute is paid to the unique voice of Karen Carpenter when We’ve Only Just Begun comes to Arena next Wednesday, April 16.

Stepping into Karen’s shoes for the show is long-time fan and star of ITV’s Stars in Their Eyes, Toni Lee, with her big band and singers.

n Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom will be screened at the Arena at 7.30pm next Tuesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 17.

Based on the former South African president’s autobiography of the same name, it chronicles Mandela’s early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison, before taking power and working to rebuild the country’s once segregated society.

Starring Idris Elba and Naomie Harris, the film attracted Oscar and Golden Globe nominations.

Tickets are £7 with concessions £5.
