CELEBRATED biographer Michael Boulter will be giving a unique portrait of how Charles Darwin developed his ideas for evolution from his own garden when he gives a talk as part of the St Albans Festival.

Michael, the author of Darwin's Garden, discovered that for nearly 20 years, Darwin used his garden as a laboratory, conducting experiments on pollination and selective breeding as he worked out the ideas behind his theory of evolution.

The author will be speaking at St Albans Library in The Maltings at 8pm next Wednesday, July 1, and tickets at 3 which can be redeemed against the purchase of the book on the night can be obtained from the Alban Arena and Waterstones in St Peter's Street.
