A CELEBRATION of the spirit of the Olympics comes to the Alban Arena on Sunday evening (29) in the shape of musical production Beyond Gold.

It blends a mix of dance, drama and gospel music to tell the true and inspiring stories of some of the world’s greatest athletes including Marion Jones, Derek Redmond and Eric Liddle.

An original piece of theatre, it features singers, dancers and actors in a production which engages the audience with stories of faith and determination as well as the successes and failures that provide the backdrop to the epic quest for Olympic glory.

Comedian Jimmy Carr returns to the Arena next Saturday, August 4, with his Gagging Order tour.

The show at 7pm and 10pm will be packed with one-liners, stories and jokes, some clever, some rude and a few totally unacceptable. Some tickets remain for the 10pm performance.

Film continues at the Arena with Red Lights in which psychologist Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and her assistant study paranormal activity, which leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic (Robert De Niro) who has resurfaced years after his toughest critic mysteriously passed away.

It is being shown at 5pm on next Tuesday, July 31, 8pm on Wednesday, August 1, 5pm on Friday, August 3, and 1.30pm on Wednesday, August 15.

Finally, A Thousand Kisses Deep at 8pm next Thursday, August 2, cinematically captures and recreates the psychoanalytic experience. Caught in a timeless world of passions and betrayals, Mia searches for the truth behind a mysterious woman’s death.
