ONE of Britain's best-known and versatile organists, Nigel Ogden, gets 2008 off to a great start for St Albans Organ Theatre on Saturday night.

Presenter of the BBC's ever-popular The Organist Entertains, Nigel is equally at home on the Wurlitzer or any grand cathedral organ as well as the electronic organ and piano.

In addition to his weekly Radio Two programme, he is in constant demand for concerts throughout the UK and abroad and also has numerous recordings to his name covering everything from popular hits of the day to the classics.

His special association with St Albans Organ Theatre led a few weeks ago to the release of a CD featuring its two theatre organs, the Hammond and the Steinway piano.

The concert, at the theatre in Camp Road, St Albans, will begin at 7.45pm and a few seats at £7 are still available by calling 01727 768652 between 9am and 8pm.
