FORMER St Albans gallery owner Thomas Plunkett is the second youngest president to be elected to the Royal Watercolour Society since 1804.
The former owner of Thomas Plunkett Fine Art in Sandridge Road is 39 and lives in Radlett with his wife and two young sons. He also teaches art at Cardinal Newman Catholic School in Luton.
The society is currently marking the Diamond Jubilee of its patron, the Queen, and celebrating the Olympics with an exhibition entitled Picturing Britain which features three watercolours painted by the Prince of Wales.
It can be seen at the Bankside Gallery close to the new south entrance of Blackfriars Station and next door to Tate Modern from next Friday, July 27, until August 12.
Thomas said: “Members of the Royal Watercolour Society have created a dynamic exhibition to capture the celebrations and events of 2012 and as well as the warp and weft of British life.”
