CELEBRATED Russian pianist Nelly Akopian-Tamarina is giving a recital of tone poems by Brahms in Aldenham on Sunday afternoon.

She excels in 19th-century Romantic repertoire in the great tradition of the old Russian piano school and is performing at Delrow House from 4.30pm.

She is also returning to the London concert platform after many years' absence and will be performing at the Wigmore Hall later this month.

Sunday's recital will be a prelude to that event and the programme of works includes 3 Intermezzi Op 117, 4 Ballades Op 10 and 8 Klavierstucke Op 76.

Nelly was born in Moscow and was a student at the Moscow Central Music School. She made her debut in England at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in the mid 1980s where she was described variously as a "phenomenon" and "prodigiously gifted".

Admission to the concert at Delrow House, which is in Hillfield Lane between Radlett and Watford, is £5 and part of the proceeds will go towards the work of the Camphill Village Trust.
