REHEARSALS for touring theatre company Peppermint Muse's latest production have been getting hot and sweaty in the capable hands of movement director Jenny Ayres.
The company is in rehearsal for a performance of two Sam Shepard plays which will be performed at the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans on Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21.
Harpenden-based jenny, who will appear as Cavale in the first of the Shepard double bill, Cowboy Mouth, is trained in leading physical theatre workshops and was delighted to contribute to the rehearsal process.
She explained: "As actors, we can get stuck into habits or tricks with our movements. My work with Peppermint Muse included exploring extreme emotions with exercises that allowed the actors to be free and uninhibited in their bodies.
"These plays are very demanding emotionally, for example having to explore ways to express grief. However, the work was balanced with some lighter moments such as finding favourite rock star poses - everyone seems to have an inner air guitar."
