THE setting of the next play by the Company of Ten has proved a real challenge to one of the company's number.
Sweet Panic by Stephen Poliakoff opens in the Abbey Theatre Studio on April 23 and tells the story of a child psychologist who is stalked by the mother of one of her patients.
The setting of the drama is London in 1996 where teenager Jess makes strange and disturbing models of the city which include Harrods, Marble Arch, Battersea Power Station and even the Albert Memorial. The models become the setting for the play.
They are being made by Angharad Pugh-Jones who has been collecting materials, boxes, biscuit tins and toilet rolls for months.
She said: "Jess is a very troubled but highly intelligent and imaginative girl. My main challenge is to imagine the models as she might make them - and to resist my desire to make them look too nice!"
