PUNK and New Wave memorabilia is being sought for an exhibition next year focusing on the impact of the movement on St Albans.

The exhibition, which will be held in the Museum of St Albans next March, will focus on the period 1976 to 1981 and the DIY music scene that followed the appearance of The Sex Pistols at the Herts College of Art and Design – now the Margaret Harvey Gallery – in February 1976.

The project organisers are looking for local gig posters, record and tape sleeves, fanzines, photographs and memories from the period. They would also like to hear from anyone who was involved in the local music scene at the time.

Everything which is borrowed will be returned after the exhibition, which is being put on by St Albans council. Anyone who can help is asked to contact Grae J Wall at grae.wall@leisureconnection.co.uk or call 01727 827667. Alternatively contact Kate Warren at kate.warren@stalbans.gov.uk
