A MAJORLY-revamped Circus of Horrors is returning to the Alban Arena next Tuesday, March 22, to celebrate its 15th bloody year.

The new show, The Four Chapters from Hell, takes the audience through all four of the Circus of Horrors incarnations beginning in a French asylum, moving across to Mexico, then Victorian London and into 2020 in the future, a Mad Max-style civilisation inhabited by vampires, zombies and the undead.

The show features daredevil flying trapeze, a vampiric crow woman suspended only by her hair, whirlwind roller skaters and sword swallowers, not to mention pickled and bendy people, voodoo warriors, knife throwers and many more.

It is all driven by the rock’n’roll of Dr Haze and his Interceptors from Hell.

The show begins at 8pm and tickets are 15, available from the box office on 01727 844488 or go to www.alban-arena.co.uk

Steeleye Span return to the Arena with their traditional British folk – often with an electric twist – after their 40th anniversary tour.

One of the most influential names in British roots music since their debut in 1969, Steeleye took folk from small clubs into the world of gold discs and international tours.

Members of the band have come and gone over the years but the current line-up features Maddy Prior – the voice of Steeleye for 37 years – at the helm with stalwart and fiddler Peter Knight, Rick Kemp on bass, Peter Zorn on guitar and Liam Genockey on drums.

The show begins at 7.30pm and tickets are 18.50 and 17.50.

Writer and stand-up comedian Mark Steel is back on the road and stopping off at the Arena at 8pm next Sunday, March 27.

It follows his highly-acclaimed Radio Four comedy show Mark Steel’s in Town and there will be elements of the show during his tour.

To ensure every show is unique, he will be shedding light on the quirkiness and interesting aspects of every town and city he visits.

As well as his own show, Mark has presented the BAFTA-nominated Mark Steel Lectures for BBC2, and is a regular on BBC1’s Have I Got News For You and Radio 4’s Newsquiz.

Tickets are 15.

n A performance by The Bootleg Beatles at the Alban Arena next Saturday, March 26, has sold out.
