RUSSIAN-born pianist, composer and conductor, Alissa Firsova, is playing the lunchtime concert at a city centre church next Wednesday, July 6.

Alissa’s playing and composition has received huge acclaim in successive BBC Proms and she recently conducted a concert of her mother Elena Firsova’s works at the Royal Academy of Music where she has been undertaking post-graduate study.

Her programme at St Peter’s Church in St Albans from 1pm includes Schumann’s Fashingsschwank aus Wien Op 26 and Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor Op 111.

The concert is free but there will be a retiring collection in aid of Grove House.
