A festive start to Christmas week is promised by the Lea Singers when they put on their annual concert at Harpenden Public Halls from 7.30pm on Monday.
The choir has teamed up with Harpenden Lions Club to raise money for local charity projects.
The concert will feature a mix of well-loved Christmas music, light-hearted pieces and more serious Christmas choral favourites. The Lea Singers will be joined by talented young brass players Bold As Brass and St Albans Cathedral organist Tom Winpenny for choruses from Handel’s Messiah and carols for choir and audience.
The music will be washed down by mulled wine and mince pies which are included in the ticket prices of £13 in advance and £5 for under-18s, available from George Darley on 01707 377029, online at www.wegottickets.com/leasingers or from Rollings Wine in Station Road and Stage Door in Piggotts Hill Lane.
Tickets will also be available on the door at £15 with under-18s £7.
Proceeds will go to Harpenden Lions Life Skills programme.
Miriam McKay, chair of The Lea Singers, said: “We are delighted to be working with Harpenden Lions this Christmas to raise money for a local cause. We have been impressed by the professionalism and energy with which the Lions identify and support areas of need within our community.”
