Inspector calls on OVO
ONE of the twentieth century’s greatest plays comes to the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans for the next fortnight as OVO presents An Inspector Calls.
When Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young girl. His startling revelations shakes the very foundations of their lives and challenge us all to examine our consciences.
A philosophical play about social conscience and the crumbling of middle class values, JB Priestley’s masterpiece also holds its audience with the tension of a detective thriller.
The play was successfully revived by Stephen Daldry for the Royal National Theatre in 1992 in a multi-award winning expressionist production featuring Kenneth Cranham as the Inspector.
