CLUB Hot make one of their very rare appearances on Monday night at The Rose and Crown in St Michael's Village, St Albans. The aristocracy of local musicians - they all have fine pedigrees - only play there together about once a year. They include Pete Gent (of Music Shop fame) on acoustic guitar, peripatetic teacher and frequenter of Radio Three's Late Night Junction Mike Adcock on accordion, Dan Brown (previously of The Fix) on bass, Graham Goffee on electric guitar, drummer Mark Burr and wailing warbler Nigel Brown, also on harmonica and accordion. Their musical tastes are so eclectic and wide-ranging it would be almost impossible to pin them down to a genre. But the spirit of their gigs is jubilant and celebratory and incorporates Serbian, Zydeco, Norwegian folk and Dr John. Mike Adcock has been known to play a bicycle wheel in his time but he generally saves his avant-garde side for theatrical gatherings. Music starts at 9pm and admission is free.
