Following this weekend’s Herts Jazz Festival at the Broadway Theatre in Letchworth, the club returns to St Albans with a special Clark Tracey concert.

The Clark Tracey Quintet will play Herts Jazz at the Maltings Arts Theatre on Tuesday, October 16.

Formed in January this year, drummer Clark’s own group features Alex Ridout on trumpet, Sean Payne on alto, Elliott Sansom on piano and James Owston on bass.

This is Clark’s latest incarnation of superb young talented musicians, deserving of a wider audience and a national platform.

The group has just released its debut CD entitled No Doubt and has already received critical acclaim for its live appearances at Ronnie Scott’s Club, Swanage Jazz Festival and the South Coast Jazz Festival.

In the ranks are the winner of the BBC’s Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 2017, Alex Ridout, while Sean Payne and Elliott Sansom were runners-up in that competition.

Partly a celebration of Clark’s 40th year in jazz, this band is a credit to British jazz and the many years Clark has led his own ensembles featuring young stars of the future.

Advance tickets cost £11 members, £12 concessions and £13 full.

They are £12 members, £13 concessions and £15 full on the door.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.
