HAYDN’S last great oratorio, The Seasons, is being performed by the Hertfordshire Chorus at St Albans Abbey on Saturday evening.
Depicting the year-round story of country folk and inspired by Handel, the piece is rarely performed even though it has vocal writing and the opportunity for the orchestra to bring to life the many moods of nature.
The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, is under the musical direction of David Temple and the soloists are Bibi Heal, Joshua Ellicott and Graeme Danby. The choir will be joined by Forest Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tickets ranging from 7.50 to 25 are available from the Ticketline on 0870 458 0445 or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk
