A COMMUNITY art exhibition to raise money for the Haiti earthquake appeal is being held next Saturday, March 6.

The work has emanated from all-ability art sessions delivered by design lecturer Mike Goatman which are run by Bethany Community Church.

Mike uses a back to basics approach which peels away high-brow artistic mystique and injects a dose of fun into putting pencil, crayon, charcoal or paint to water.

Mike, who lives in Batford, Harpenden, said: "I get immense pleasure from helping people to discover they can do more with a brush than paint the bathroom ceiling. Given a little guidance and encouragement, many of the attendees at these sessions have produced some fantastic work and had a lot of fun in the process."

The exhibition featuring paintings and drawings produced by Mike's students is being held from 11am to 5.30pm at the Highfield Oval Chapel in Ambrose Lane, Harpenden. Admission is free and the work on display will be auctioned at 4pm with all proceeds donated to Haiti.
