A NEWLY-formed girls' choir will be singing Haydn's Little Organ Mass at a midnight service on Christmas Eve.

The girls' choir at St Nicholas Church in Harpenden was set up in September by new director of music Jonathan Eyre to join the boys' and adult choirs who already sing regularly at the Church Green church.

From January they will regularly sing Evensong at the church and they will be performing at the Christmas Eve midnight service with the adult choir.

They will be robed in their Bishop's Purple robes in contrast to the blue of the adult robes at the service.

Jonathan said: "The girls have worked tremendously hard over the last three months and continue to go from strength to strength. Following their inaugural service on Advent Sunday, the girls are keen to maintain the high standards they have set for themselves."
