SWING Low Sweet Baritones will be performing at Herts Jazz Club on Sunday November 25.

This sextet is led by an incredible musician, New Yorker Gary Smulyan (winner of 2011 Downbeat Best Baritone and 2011 Jazz Times Best Baritone awards). No matter who he is performing with – or whether he is leading his own band at the time – Smulyan brings to the stage the spirit, style and savvy of a deep-toned master of bebop. He is considered the standard bearer of his generation for the baritone saxophone.

This unique band is on tour in the UK and also features two of our finest baritone exponents, Alex Garnett and Pete Lukas, as well as the great Italian pianist Andrea Pozza, who has performed alongside George Coleman, Steve Grossman and Phil Woods to name a few.

The full line-up for the show, which is at Campus West, Welwyn Garden City, from 7.45-10.30pm, features Gary Smulyan, Alex Garnett, Pete Lukas (baritone saxes), Andrea Pozza (piano), Dominic Howles (bass), Matt Home (drums).

Tickets cost just 5 for students and under-21s; 13 advance; 16 at the door; 10 members. Book online at http://www.hawthornetheatre.co.uk/whatsonstage
