Shakespeare’s pastoral comedy As You Like It is being performed free at the Vintry Garden in St Albans city centre next Saturday, August 15.

Foot in the Door Theatre are putting on two performances of the play - at midday and 3.30pm - and no booking is necessary.

The garden alongside St Albans Cathedral will be transformed into the Forest of Arden where those banished from the court by Duke Frederick explore their new lives with new identities.

Everybody wants the same thing - to know what it is to love.

As You Like It follows Foot in the Door productions in St Albans of The Tempest in 2014 and The Taming of the Shrew in 2013.

Although directed by St Albans local Kathryn Raw, the theatre company is based in Winchester, where most of the company live and work.

Vintry Garden will open half an hour before performances for audiences to bring their own picnics and seating.
