A RESURGENCE of interest in the sounds of the eighties has led to a new lease of life for singer Paul Young's career.

The former pop idol, who frequently played at The Horn in St Albans - then the Horn of Plenty - before he became famous, will shortly be touring nationwide again with a nostalgia show called Here and Now The Very Best of the 80s.

Back in the late 70s Paul, a former apprentice at Vauxhall's car factory in Luton, frequently headlined at the the Victoria Street pub.

Our picture - taken on January 10, 1979 - shows Paul on stage with Streetband. Hansi Koppe, music promoter at the popular venue, said: "We have been lucky enough to book Paul just before his tour starts."

Paul will play The Horn on Thursday April 3 with Los Pacaminos, his Tex-Mex band.

Other eighties stars featuring in the Here and Now shows include Rick Astley, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Bananarama and ABC.
