SIXTIES folk legend Julie Felix stops off at the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans next Saturday, June 6, as part of her Highway of Diamonds tour.

Californian Julie arrived in England in 1964 with just a duffel bag and a guitar to become the first British-based folk artist to get a major record deal.

Quickly filling London's Royal Albert Hall, she became the resident singer on The Frost Report which in turn led to a TV series of her own - the first BBC series to be made in colour.

In a 45-year career, Julie has toured the world several times over and performed alongside Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Martin Carthy, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Dusty Springfield and Jimmy Page to name but a few.

Julie celebrated her 70th birthday last June and after 45 years she is still brimming with energy.

Resisting all labels and boundaries, Julie's music includes Mexican folk songs and native American chants.

Originally from California, Julie's UK home is in Rickmansworth. She comes on stage at 8pm and tickets are 13 with concessions 11, available from the box office on 01727 844222.
