Nationally known performers with local connections, Saul Rose and James Delarre, will take the stage at the next Folk at the Maltings concert in St Albans.

They will be joined by Sussex-based singer Rosie Hodgson, a finalist in New Roots 2014, for the concert in the Maltings Arts Theatre at 8pm next Friday, December 5.

Saul Rose grew up playing melodeon in his teens for morris dance groups in the Watford area and moved on to play with leading musicians on the folk scene, including Waterson Carthy, Faustus and Whapweasel.

James Delarre first became known as the firestorm fiddle player from the Essex-based band Mawkin which he formed with his brother Dave in 2002 and developed into a nationally known five piece band.

James and Saul met at Sidmouth Folk Week in 2007. They were brought together to play music for young performance team, Morris Offspring. Their debut album as a duo, Cabin Fever was released in February.

Rosie Hodgson is a singer/songwriter from West Sussex, performing a mixture of English traditional and her own songs. She grew up in a North West morris team, Knockhundred Shuttles and has been singing all her life with her songs firmly grounded in English music.

More recently she has branched out and become lead singer for a new traditional Irish band CrossHarbour, whose debut album was launched in March this year to great acclaim, and led to performances at festivals in England and Ireland as well as appearing on Irish TV.

Tickets cost £10, with concessions for students, children and unwaged people at £8 and for under 16s £6.
