Operatunity Knocks for members of the public who would like to take part in a workshop and learn how to perform well-known opera choruses.

Harpenden Choral Society is holding the workshop next Saturday, January 21, under the directorship of Chris Hopkins, currently working as conductor and pianist with the English National Opera.

The event is for opera lovers who would like to sing out in a friendly and supportive environment. The ability to read music would be an advantage and scores will be provided. Light refreshments and a chance to socialise will be available during the tea break.

Registration is at 9.30am at the Harpenden High Street Methodist Church. The workshop will run from 10am until midday, with an hour’s break for lunch, then again from 1pm to 2.30pm followed by a break for tea and cakes before the final session from 3pm to 4pm.

Tickets are £15 for adults and £7.50 for students, which include scores and afternoon tea. Email tickets@harpendenchoralsociety.org or telephone box office manager Tricia Beavis on 01582 419379 for further information and to book a place.
