WITH the end of the current season fast approaching, the Alban Arena turns its attention to film again in the coming week.

The programme gets underway with the Hollywood remake of West End hit Rock of Ages featuring an all-star cast including Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin and Catherine Zeta Jones.

It is the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock’n’roll romance is told through the hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and more.

It can be seen at 1.30pm on Tuesday, July 24, and Thursday, July 26, 5pm next Friday, July 27, and 8pm on Saturday, July 28.

Critically-acclaimed Indonesian action movie The Raid is being shown at 5pm on Tuesday, July 24.

It tells the story of a rookie member of an elite special-forces team, Rama, instructed to hang back during a covert mission involving the extraction of a brutal crimelord from a rundown 15-storey apartment block.

But when a spotter blows their cover, Rama must stand in for the team’s fallen leader and use every iota of his fighting strength to complete the mission and escape with his life.

In Silent House at 8pm on the same day, July 24, a young woman (Elizabeth Olsen) finds herself trapped inside her family’s lakeside retreat, unable to contact the outside world as events become increasingly ominous in and around the house.

Subtitled period drama A Royal Affair can be seen at 1.30pm on Wednesday, July 25, and 2pm on Saturday, July 28. It tells how a young queen who is married to an insane king falls secretly in love with her physician and together they start a revolution that changes a nation forever.

In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman at 5pm on Wednesday, July 25, and 8pm on Friday, July 27, Snow White (Kristen Stewart) is the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) who sets out to destroy her.

But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with the huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) dispatched to kill her.
