Arias, ensembles and choruses from some of Verdi’s best-loved operas will be performed at the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans next week.

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi in 1813, St Albans Chamber Opera are performing extracts from some of his most famous operas, Otello, Macbeth, Simon Boccanegra, Don Carlo, Rigoletto and La Traviata, at 8pm next Thursday and Friday, October 24 and 25.

Paying tribute to the composer, St Albans Chamber Opera Chorus will be joined by soprano, Lina Saavedra, mezzo, Stella Woodman, tenor, Neil Simon and basses Andrew Tinkler and Des Turner.

The evening will be musically directed by Julian Barber and stage direction will be by Peter Kestner.
