TOP American bluesman Glenn Patrik is flying to the UK to record an album with St Albans-based band Elephant Shelf.

And the two are coming together tonight (Thursday) at a new blues venue in the city to put on their first gig together.

Glenn, who has links with such musical luminaries as Albert King, Count Basie and Duane Eddy, heard about Elephant Shelf when he was interviewed for Blues Matters magazine by the group's founder Vicky Martin.

The pair hit it off so Vicky invited Glenn to record an album with Elephant Shelf in St Albans and at the same time play at The Blues Room at Harry Smith's Bar in Verulam Road.

The Blues Room, which is run by Vicky and fellow Elephant Shelf member Diana Stone, has transformed the fortunes of the bar by pulling over 100 customers through the door for each show.
