YOUNG drama students threw themselves wholeheartedly into the Large Hadron Collider at the Abbey Theatre in St Albans last week.
150 actors aged from five to 18 were putting on a revue entitled The Drama School that Fell into The Large Hadron Collider: The Search for the Theatrix Particle.
Much of the programme was their own original work interspersed with singing and dancing.
Rosemarie Partridge, principal of the St Albans drama school, said: “Our project was to devise an experimental and quirky show on science-related themes. We also took the opportunity to introduce students to physical theatre. These are stimulating challenges that develop the range of acting skills of both individual and groups of students.”
“Our audiences were just as delighted by the dramatic consequences of applying The Butterfly Effect to English history as they were by the playful juxtapositions of the space-time continuum between Peter Pan and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.”
