There is still time to catch St Albans Chamber Opera’s production of Puccini’s dramatic opera Tosca which runs until this Saturday, March 19.
The three act opera set over the course of a day in Rome is being performed in English at the Abbey Theatre in St Albans.
A contemporary production by John Heath, it features a large local chorus including boys from St Columba’s Prep School singing the Te Deum.
The three main principals are double cast. Tosca, the operatic diva, is played by Laura Wolk-Lewanowicz and Joanne McGahon. Cavaradossi, her lover, is played by Daniel Joy and Neil Simon and the part of the evil chief of police is played by two Chamber Opera stalwarts, Richard Woodall and Des Turner.
Music director Julian Barber said “It’s great to be working with this cast, some very experienced performers and some new to the roles. Also it’s lovely to welcome Rod McPhee [The Sacristan] back to SACO after a few years away.”
Performances tonight, tomorrow and Saturday start at 7.30pm and tickets at £18.50 are available from here or call 01727 857861.
