Fans of Jane Austen are promised a witty adaptation of Northanger Abbey at the Maltings Arts Theatre tomorrow night. (17)
Professional theatre company DOT Productions are into their sixth year of touring and have toured many classics by the likes of Wilde, Shakespeare and Moliere.
Now they have turned their attention to Northanger Abbey, the story of Catherine Morland whose obsession with Gothic novels leads her to conjure fantastical stories and become fixated by the tale of the late wife of her host General Tilney.
The production uses just six actors in the adaptation by Bryan Johnson.
DOT co-producer Louisa-Marie Hunt said: “Jane Austen’s novels are so popular and timeless as we’ve seen by the plethora of films and TV series that have been made of them, that having an Austen novel adapted for our 2015 tour was something we thought our audiences would enjoy.”
The play begins at 8pm and tickets at £12/£10 can be booked by calling 0333 666 3366 or clicking here.
