A YOUNG theatre group from St Albans has decided on Dickens for their first ever show.

The Arts Community Theatre Group (ACT), who meet at Sandringham Secondary School, are busy rehearsing for their production of Dodger!, a musical which follows the adventures of Oliver Twist and the Artful Dodger. More than 50 cast members aged nine to 13 from schools across the county have been working together with Sandringham staff and students to create their own fast-paced sequel to Oliver Twist.

Director Claire Waghorn said that parents would be impressed with the show and added: "We have a cast of tremendously talented young actors who have been a joy to work with, especially the tight-knit team of terrifying villains! It's also been fantastic to harness the talents of Sandringham student choreographers who have delighted in sharing their skills with the cast."

Dodger! will be on at the SandPit Theatre from July 2-4 at 7.30pm, with an extra 2.30pm matinee performance on Saturday 4. Tickets cost 10 for an adult/7 concessions and to reserve your seat either call the SandPit box office on 01727 370067 or book online at www.sandpittheatre.co.uk
