A giant of a performances is expected from local bass Des Turner when he sings the role Polyphemus in the St Albans Chamber Opera production of Handel’s Acis and Galatea.
There are two performances of the opera - the first at St Leonard’s Church, Sandridge, next Saturday, May 9, and the second at St John’s Church, Harpenden, on Saturday, May 16. Both start at 8pm.
Emily Yarrow takes the role of as Galatea while Oliver Martin-Smith is singing Acis, the love element. Peter Martin is the wise sage Damon.
MD for the show is John Beswick and Peter Kestner has trained the chorus and directs the semi-staging of the two performances.
