ACTOR, pianist and singer Michael Lunts welcomes the audience aboard the SS Madeira for a nautical musical comedy being staged at The Maltings Theatre in St Albans at 8pm next Friday, June 8. ‘
Coward at Sea is something of a rarity – a genuine Noel Coward premiere. It features for the first time on stage his P&O 1930, a magical evocation Coward wrote back in the 1950s of the historic P&O route home to Britain from the Far East, when a voyage took weeks rather than hours and the passengers got up to all sorts of antics en route.
Michael brings to life an eccentric cast of Coward characters and includes many of The Master’s best-loved songs from Matelot and Mad Dogs and Englishmen to Nina, Marvellous Party and Sail Away.
Tickets at 12.50 with concessions 7.50 are available from www.maltingsartstheatre.co.uk, in person from the St Albans Tourist Information Centre or by phone on 07807 521436 .
