A QUARTET and a quintet play Herts Jazz Club on Sunday (10), the latest in the club’s College Collection programme aimed at raising the profile of the next generation of jazz musicians.

The Sam Healey Quartet from the Royal Northern College of Music features Sam Healey (alto), Ben Watte (piano), Jim Molyneux (bass) and Stewart Wilson (drums).

Joining them will be the James Copus Quintet from the Royal Academy of Music featuring James Copus (trumpet), Sam Glaser (alto), Rob Luft (guitar), Conor Chaplin (bass) and Scott Chapman (drums).

Clark Tracey, Herts Jazz’s artistic director, said: “Some of my earliest chances to perform were given to me at Herts Jazz many years ago. We want to continue that tradition. Previous College Collection gigs were big hits with the audiences so we are sure of another great evening with the future of British jazz.”

The evening at the jazz club at Campus West, Welwyn Garden City, starts at 8pm and tickets are £5 for students and under 21s, £11 in advance from http://www.hawthornetheatre.co.uk/whatsonstage.html and £13 on the door.
