A BLEND of folk and jazz garnished with all that he has learned across the years will be performed by Chris Flegg when he appears at The Portland Arms in St Albans next Thursday, April 16.

Chris has played guitar and sax in a variety of folk and jazz formations and his latest album, The Sound of Life, represents his writing output for 2007 which includes songs such as one celebrating the unexpected pleasures of commuting daily by train from St Albans into London.

A familiar face busking in the city at weekends in support of The British Heart Foundation, his musical career began as a folk singer at London's Troubadour Caf. From folk he moved to jazz, playing in Dizz Disley's Band and later in The Steve Benbow Band.

Today he plays a mixture of the two and he can be seen at The Portland Arms from 8.30pm.

Admission is free and he will be at the same pub on Sunday, May 3, and Thursday, May 14.
