MASTER bassist Chris Laurence and his Quartet play Herts Jazz Club this Sunday, May 5.
Chris has managed to ‘cross over’ between jazz and classical throughout his career, enabling him to perform with such diverse artists as John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler, John Surman, Andy Sheppard and JJ Johnson as well as being principal bass with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields until 1995.
He also spends a lot of time in studios recording music for TV, film and albums, including the soundtracks for Leaving Las Vegas with Sting and The Man who Cried with the Kronos Quartet.
Joining Chris on Sunday will be Frank Ricotti, vibes, John Paricelli, guitar, and Martin France, drums.
The jazz club meets at Campus West, Welwyn Garden City from 8pm and tickets are £5 for students and under-21s, £11 in advance from http://www.hawthornetheatre.co.uk/whatsonstage.html and £13 at the door.
