MOZART’S Requiem will be featured in a celebration of his music in St Albans Abbey next Saturday, June 16.

The Cathedral Choir will sing alongside the Abbey Girls Choir and Abbey Singers accompanied by the acclaimed Sinfonia Verdi. The concert, which is being organised by St Albans Cathedral Music Trust, aims to raise the profile of the Cathedral’s music as well as raising funds to secure its musical tradition.

Andrew Lucas, Master of the Music, will be conducting and said: “We try to combine all the Cathedral’s choral forces in a concert every other year – particularly after the wonderful recent performance of Handel’s Messiah.”

Soloists include soprano, Elizabeth Cragg, local singer Deborah Miles-Johnson, tenor John McMunn and bass Michael George. Other music includes Laudate Dominum, Regina Coeli and Ave Verum.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the information desk in the Cathedral’s Chapter House or by calling 01727 890256.
