St Albans Abbey is the venue for the first concert of the new season for Hertfordshire Chorus next Saturday, October 15.

Starting at 7.30pm, the concert will feature Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony and Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms.

Sea Symphony is based on poetry by Walt Whitman and describes the sea in all its beauty and splendour whether it be crashing waves or the peace and tranquility of the evening.

Leonard Bernstein composed his Chichester Psalms especially for Chichester Cathedral in 1965.

Hertfordshire Chorus is one of the country’s leading large choirs and will be accompanied for the Abbey concert by the London Orchestra da Camera and soloists Erica Eloff, Ashley Riches and Matthew Davies. It will be conducted by David Temple.

Tickets are available from £12.
